Institute of Community Services, Inc. Scholarship

The Institute of Community Services, Inc. announces the sponsorship of thirteen $750.00 educational scholarships given to one eligible senior in each of the 13 counties served by ICS.(Clay, DeSoto, Grenada, Lafayette, Lowndes, Marshall, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate and Tunica)

Any high school senior, who is a former Head Start student or has a sibling currently enrolled in Head Start may apply. Applicants must complete an application form which requires a typed composition on “How This Scholarship Will Benefit Me.” Applicants must obtain a written recommendation from their principal, guidance counselor, or teacher and must be a resident of one of the above counties. Applicants must be eligible to enroll in an academic, vocational, or technical institution and must submit proof of enrollement before receiving the award.

Application forms may be obtained from the high school or local Head Start Center and must be returned to ICS, Inc. no later than March 13, 2009. Those chosen to receive the awards will be notified by mail.

The scholarship is for the first year of college and will be awarded in tow allotments of $375.00.
